It’s time for USB 3.2 Gen2x2.
External drives solve data storage problems, help with the placement of voluminous video and photo data. Plus, do not forget about game consoles, so you can get additional space for personal needs.
At the same time, the question remains with the speed of such external drives. Do you want maximum speed? Try the Seagate FireCuda NVMe with NAND storage.
Very fast in theory
Among other external SSDs, this one stands out for its high bandwidth. Seagate FireCuda external SSD with USB 3.2 Gen2x2 support delivers up to 2000 MB / s. But this requires a device with such an interface, otherwise the reading speed will be noticeably lower. In the future, the problem will be solved with the transition to USB 4, but for now we live in the present:
I, for example, have last year’s MacBook Pro 16 ″, but it has Thunderbolt 3 without USB 3.2 Gen 2 × 2, so I couldn’t get the highest possible speed on it. Therefore, be sure to consider this point before shelling out for a fairly expensive disc.
The disc looks simple and even modest, but it also has a bright detail – a strip on the case with RGB backlighting. By default, the drive glows white during operation, but using the Seagate proprietary application, it can be changed to any color of your choice. True, it was not possible to change the backlight on macOS, there was no such setting, but on Windows there were no problems with this.
Whether you need to change the backlight or not, decide for yourself, the main thing is that there is such an opportunity. Moreover, the accessory is “gaming”, and which player does not like fine-tuning of accessories for himself: several lighting effects are provided, a funny little thing. And it’s great that the disk settings are saved in its memory: if you connect it to another device, the backlight will not change to default.
The body feels metal, but with a pleasantly rough finish. The disc is not the smallest, rather medium-sized. Otherwise, it looks little remarkable, with the exception of the already mentioned RGB-backlighting.
There are three drive options to choose from: 500 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB. The disc is equipped with a cable and it is better to use it, otherwise you may not get the maximum speed.
A large disk is convenient for backing up data, macOS will help you make an old copy, you just have to wait until everything is copied. You can also use your own Seagate software to create a backup.
The drive features customizable RGB lighting and excellent performance. The price also sets it apart from the general background, but as it happens with extraordinary novelties, it is compensated by the speed and uniqueness. As the distribution of the same high-speed SSDs, prices will decrease, but for now, if you need the maximum and you know how to put it into practice, you can call Seagate FireCuda Gaming for help.
