Many people cannot imagine their day without their favorite background music. Nowadays, all kinds of wireless speakers are gaining great popularity. Such a device allows you to enjoy much better music quality than from the speakers used in smartphones. Today we’ll take a closer look at the Bose Home Speaker 500 smart speaker.
Home Speaker 500 is the best deal from renowned high-end music equipment manufacturer Bose. I tested how good the speaker is in everyday use.

Design and appearance
The Bose Home Speaker 500 is crafted from brushed anodized aluminum. Thanks to this high-quality material, the speaker looks very elegant and pleasant to the touch. Unfortunately, it’s not overly scratch resistant.
The design is simple – when viewed from above, the device resembles an ellipse. The lower part, thanks to the hidden speaker, has corresponding holes. In the middle of the top you will find a small LCD display. Below is a connector for the power cable, as well as AUX.
Display and control
The Bose Home Speaker 500 has an LCD display compared to its sibling (Home Speaker 300). There are two functions here – one of them displays the time, during rest mode, the second, during music playback, shows graphics with the name of the radio station, song cover, author’s name or title.
At the top of the device you will find useful touch buttons. Unfortunately, they are not highlighted. The numbers from 1 to 6 are personalized controls that we can assign specific functions to through the app. The “+” and “-” symbols denote the volume keys, and between them is the pause button.
App and voice assistant
To set up your device, download the Bose Music app on your smartphone. It is not very intuitive, but it adds functionality. We also use it to connect the speaker to a Wi-Fi network. Thus, the equipment can work remotely, when we do not control it, via a smartphone. In the application, it is possible to assign functions to the buttons in the upper part – thus, after pressing the selected number, the speaker will turn on, for example, the desired radio station, or a playlist, etc.
The app also lets you group multiple Bose Home Speaker 500s for simultaneous playback. We can also use it to adjust the sound quality, specifically the treble and bass. Music is played in a classic way, via Bluetooth. However, the device does not have an NFC connection.
The Home Speaker 500 is positioned as a smart speaker that works with the Google Assistant voice assistant as well as Amazon Alexa.
Bose Home Speaker 500 Let’s move on to the most important aspect, which is sound quality. Bose is a renowned company that produces high quality musical equipment. We can find their sound systems, for example, in premium cars.
Now is the time to turn on the music and evaluate the sound quality. With such a hefty price tag, we shouldn’t be disappointed – this speaker is by far one of the best on the market. The reproduced sound is juicy and bright, it is very pleasant to the ear. Thanks to the app, we can adjust the bass and treble to suit our personal preferences. The maximum volume is very high and, in my opinion, already at 50%, quite loud. most importantly, distortion does not appear even at the maximum level.
Should you buy?
Home Speaker 500 works great and reproduces the highest quality sound. The mobile application allows you to configure the device according to the requirements and control the equipment without using a smartphone. And the elegant look will allow using the device as an element of interior design. The biggest disadvantage of the equipment is its high price.
